Slow-Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken

Slow-Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken is a tender, flavor-packed dish where sweet honey, savory garlic, and soy sauce blend into a rich, caramelized glaze. The slow cooker gently transforms the chicken into a juicy, fall-apart centerpiece perfect for busy weeknights. With minimal prep and maximum comfort, this recipe delivers bold flavor without the effort. Serve it over rice, noodles, or veggies for a warm, satisfying meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • Hot cooked rice
  • Sliced green onion and sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, stir together onion, honey, soy sauce, ketchup, vinegar, sesame oil, garlic and crushed red pepper flakes.
  2. Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towel; place in the slow cooker. Season with salt and pepper. Add sauce; stir to combine. Cover; cook on high 2-3 hours or low 4-5 hours. Remove chicken to a cutting board; use forks to shred. Place shredded chicken back in the slow cooker.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together about a tablespoon of the cooking liquid with the cornstarch until smooth. Stir mixture into the sauce. Cook an additional 15 minutes or until the sauce has thickened.
  4. Serve chicken over rice; garnish with green onion and sesame seeds.
