Wonton Soup

This flavorful wonton soup is a quick and satisfying dish, packed with tender chicken, mixed herbs, and savory broth. The perfect balance of flavors comes together in under 30 minutes, making it a convenient meal for busy days. Whether you enjoy it as an appetizer or a main course, it’s sure to warm you up and satisfy your cravings.

Ingredients

  • Pork Mince 450 g
  • Ginger thumb size piece, fresh, peeled and grated
  • Garlic 2 cloves, finely chopped
  • Rice Vinegar 30 ml
  • Soy Sauce 15 ml
  • Sesame Oil 15 ml
  • Eggs 1, beaten
  • Wonton Wrappers 32, thawed if frozen
  • Chicken stock 1,2 l
  • Soy Sauce 30 ml
  • Rice Vinegar 30 ml
  • Sichuan Pepper 15 ml, crushed
  • Scallion 4 each, green parts only, finely sliced

Instructions

Steps:
1. Mix together all the ingredients for the wontons apart from the wrappers.
2. Season with salt and pepper and set aside for 30 minutes.
3. Put a teaspoon of the wonton mixture in the middle of each wrapper, moisten the edges with a little water and gather up to make parcels, making sure they are well sealed.
4. Bring the chicken stock, soy sauce, rice vinegar and Sichuan pepper to a boil in a large pan and simmer for 10 minutes.
5. Season with salt and pepper then drop in the wontons, a few at a time, and cook for about 3 minutes or until they have bobbed to the surface.
6. Remove the cooked wontons with a slotted spoon and place into warmed serving bowls.
7. Pour over the broth and scatter with the spring onions.
